 Even under the most extreme circumstances, this hyperbolic figure alleges, your interlocutor’s scenario would not play out. Technical Term: adynata (ah-din-AH-ta), Greek for “helpless” or “without power.” Presumably, the Greeks meant that even the gods would be powerless to affect the outcome. Use the last person on earth to state an impossibility or to praise someone lavishly.
